When we first moved in, we were given a welcome to the neighborhood gift bag. In the bag there was a business card and pamphlet that had the words, "Wines at Home", or something like that. I was curious so I looked it up on the internet. Turns out this place does wine tastings in the home. Kind of a try before you buy type of thing. Hunter and I love wine and decided it would be a fun way to get some people together. Coincidence that the wine lady happened to live 2 blocks over from us! Convenient indeed. So this past Saturday, we hosted a wine tasting in our home. I got a great response but only 11 people were there. One person was just flying in from out of town, the other person was sick, someone else flat out forgot! It was a small intimate group which actually turned out to be just fine. Once every one got settled, the wine tasting got underway. We did the 4 S's of wine tasting with each ounce of wine. We tasted it with cheese and chocolate, which actually does change the flavor of the wine. I found that interesting. One of Hunter's friends however, did not find it so interesting. He was so out of his element! He came because he said he wanted to try something different. He did have a great time from what he said, just didn't care for the wine. Every one had a great time actually. Even when Stacy (the wine lady) spilled red wine on me, the new chair and the carpet. I was in mixed company and kept my cool while she was on her hands and knees trying to get this stain up. The stuff she used, "wine away" or something like that....did nothing but change the color of the stain. She felt bad and went back to her house to get more wine since we drank all of what was there at the house already. That wine did not last long so Kelly and I took off to get 3 more bottles. That wine was gone pretty quickly too! I now know what a wine hangover feels like and I swear I will never drink that much wine in one sitting again. I am just too old for that! Most every one left around 1:30 in the morning. There were a couple of people that were here until 3:30. I didn't realize it was that late until someone actually asked what time it was. Needless to say, the party went into the wee hours of the night but it was a lot of fun. Hunter and I ordered 4 bottles, got some clay trivets and coasters, 4 crystal red wine stems...and I think we joined the monthly wine club. Not sure on that one since I can't find the receipt! Guess I better call Stacy to find out what all we actually ordered in our less than sober state of mind! On a side note, Kelly and I got the stain out after most everyone left. Resolve, works wonders! Thanks Kelly!
