Memorial Weekend

Shannon and Payton made it in Friday, mid afternoon. I was still "on the clock" with work stuff so I stayed logged in until 4:30 or so. Work was done and we headed down to SouthLake Town Square for a little bit of walking around/shopping before dinner. We were going to go to Shogun but we were all very hungry and spotted a hibachi/sushi place next to the Container Store. Decided to go in and give it a try. Turned out to be a good gamble. We tried a couple of different sushi rolls and had the shrimp and teriyaki chicken from the hibachi grill. It was very good and tasted much better than any other hibachi I have had. Once we were done eating, we made our way to the car and headed home. It was not a long night because Shannon and I had already made plans to run in the morning (which I already blogged about!)

So, here we are on to Saturday, Aubry's party day! Shannon and I had our run first thing in the morning then we got home and got cleaned up. Shannon took a nap while I ran an errand. After nap time, I drug her to Arlington and then to Mansfield. The Arlington trip was to pick up Marissa and the Mansfield trip was to pick up the cake that Kendra made for Aubry's party. When we got home, we did have a little bit of time to kill before the party. We hung out, chatted about running, got geeked out again about the Garmin. Then it was party time. Loaded up the car with the kids, the gifts that were already at the house, the cake and cupcakes and made our way to the party destination. All but one person made it to the party and that was because of miscommunication on the date (which I later found out). It was a decent turn out. Aubry had just who she wanted there. Turns out, her friends know her very very well too. The gifts that were given were all of her favorite things and she was very grateful. After the swimming party, we all headed back to the house and most of the girls came back with us. They played RockBand most of the night until a couple of girls had to go home. Payton, Marissa and Aubry's other friend Sara spent the night. She told me she wanted her favorite people there. These 3 girls are friends of Aubry's that she does not get to spend a lot of time with so it was perfect that they were all 3 able to spend the night. Not to mention, the timing of Payton's visit to Texas could not have been better. And speaking Payton...I have never felt so bad in my life than I did Saturday afternoon. The party was at place that had an indoor pool with a mini water park, and an outdoor pool with a mini water park. The girls opted to swim indoors which was okay but the chlorine smell was very strong and made it some what uncomfortable for me, Hunter and Shannon. That was not the worst of it though. Payton had a severe allergic reaction. It was so bad that when we got home, Shannon googled the symptons. Turns out, an allergic reaction such as this only occurs with poorly ventilated indoor pool areas. The symptons can last up to 5 days but in Payton's case, it was a few hours (thank goodness). I really felt horrible for her. After awhile though, she was feeling better and joined the girls for the rest of the evening. Once Shannon was comfortable with how Payton was doing, we went out for sushi and a drink. We did not stay out too late. It was just a chill evening for us. No big partying to be had!

Shannon and Payton left around 12:30 on Sunday. They were headed to see some other friends to spend a couple of days with them. It was really great to see them again. I have never seen Aubry so excited to see someone than when she saw Payton. It was very sweet. She even screamed a very high pitch....ouch! But it was very sweet to see her so happy like that. I think their visit was a nice and relaxing one. We have made plans to try and see them over the long Labor Day weekend in September. Kansas is only 5 hours away by car, so why not. It would be a nice road trip and nice to see them too. Any how, when they took off on Sunday, I headed to the grocery store to pick up stuff for dinner that night. LaBrett and Gene were coming over for steaks on the grill. We had been planning this for a while and were very much looking forward to their company. We had a really great dinner and some wine to boot. We sat out on the patio and talked about anything and everything. Before we knew, 2 bottles of wine were gone. We were feeling no pain...except in the morning. I felt absolutely horrible. I completely wasted an entire day because of the dang wine. How stupid am I?! Any how, the weekend over all was fantastic and as soon as I find the data cable for the camera I will post pics from the party. I am off to bed and to wait for Hunter to call to make sure he landed okay. His flight was scheduled to leave at 11:30 this morning. He did not board a plane until 7:15 this evening. I kept getting text after text telling me the flight was delayed, then cancelled, then rescheduled, delayed again, cancelled again, etc. All of this was due to fog the first time, surrounding storms the couple of times after that and then storms in the area to where he was headed. I would have been so frustrated but he handles it beautifully. Says there is nothing he can do about it so why fret? Wish I could be like that....
