Dallas 3Day 60 Mile Walk.

Last weekend was the weekend that Liz and I walked our 60 miles to help in the fight for Breast Cancer. There were 2900+ walkers that lined the streets of Dallas to show our support for this disease that infects so many women and men. This very worthy cause helped to raise 7.5 million dollars to aid in the research to help fight and win the battle against breast cancer. I am proud to have been part of this event that took place over a 3 day weekend. Each day, starting with the opening Ceremonies on Friday, we walked 20 miles and camped out with our fellow walkers on Friday night and Saturday night. Each of those days, there was so much support from people lining the sidewalks, parking lots, yards, school yards, etc. It was awesome to see the amount of support that the city had for us. Not to mention, all of the volunteers that helped at each of the pit stops, the camp, the medic tent, the massage tent...and more. Oh, and who could forget the Dallas Police Department and Fire Department that offered their time to help us cross the street! They were so gracious and we were so appreciative. (they were pretty cute too, so that was nice!). And I have to talk about the crazy get ups of the walkers, crew members and support people. There were people in top hats, tutus, feather boas, thigh high argyle socks, fairy wings, crowns. I could go on and on. They were so much fun and really helped to keep the moral up at the end of the day when you felt like your legs could not move another inch. But in the grand scheme of things, I will take muscle pain and blisters any day. Those aches and pains do not require chemo.

Overall, this experience with Liz was phenomenal. We laughed and talked and cried and agreed that we will do this again. I think next year I will volunteer my time as a crew member and the year after that, I hope to fly to Detroit to do the walk again with Liz.

For those that were able to donate, I thank you so much for your generosity. You helped to raise that 7.5 million dollars.
