I was off work today and Aubry is on Christmas break from school. This is hopefully the beginning of some fun filled days. We spent the morning being lazy this first day though. We Played on the computer for a little bit until I decided it was high time I took a shower. Then around lunch time, we got ourselves together and headed to the mall for lunch and movie. We grabbed a quick lunch in that mall since there really was not time to have a nice sit down mean. After lunch we went to see the movie "Happy Feet". It is a feel good movie about a penguin that was born a little different. It had a pretty good message and was entertaining with the music and the cutest penguins! After the movie we were brave enough to roam the mall and seeing that it is the last weekend before Christmas, it was pretty darn busy. We didn't care. We always have a good time together, regardless of what we are doing. While we were roaming, we stumbled on a display of a dozen or so gingerbread houses. These were created by students from a culinary arts school. They were pretty awesome and very creative! I took a couple pics of Aubry's favorite one. These were taken with my phone and I was pretty surprised at how well they turned out. After the ooohing and aaahing over the ginger bread houses, I decided to take Aubry to Build-a-Bear. This is one of her favorite places to go since she is completely addicted to stuffed animals. She picked out a cute little white bunny and named her Holly. How appropriate, with it being so close to Christmas and all! We then headed out to the parking lot and I knew full well it would take a while to get out of there. Not only did it take us a while, it was a full 25 minutes worth of while! Sheesh!! But we finally got out of there and went straight home. Once we got home, I collapsed in the comfort and the quiet of our house! Aubry and I finished up our evening playing the game of Life, Parcheesi and Monopoly. Not all at once though, of course. We played Life first and she annihilated me! It was embarrassing. I went to college, she did not. I got a job that paid 50 grand. She got a job that paid a whopping 90 grand. I was the one with the college education and I ended up being an entertainer. It was either that or a sales person. No thanks! After the beating, we played Parcheesi. It looked like things were going in my favor. I had three of my four pieces at home and all I needed was to roll a 2 to get the last one in there and the game would be won by me. Aubry still had about 20 spaces to cover and 2 pieces out on the board. So it was in the bag for me, right!? Wrong. Aubry rolled doubles twice and got her last 2 pieces only a couple spaces out from home. My next turn, I just need to roll that 2. It did not happen. Darn it. Aubry was up and got exactly what she needed to win the game. (sigh!) We got half way through Monopoly and decided to call it a night. Overall, I think it was a pretty good day. And I think Aubry would agree. Where was Dad you might ask. He had to work.
