Trip to Boston

Since joining Epsilon back in September, I got to experience my first business trip. A co-worker and I headed to Boston on Sunday and got back on Wednesday. We got in to Boston around 6:00 on Sunday and decided to take that opportunity to see as much of downtown Boston as we could. We decided to go to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall. But not before having to deal with the very late shuttle to take us to the car rental place, the incredibly rude “customer service associate” at the car rental place and the verbally abusive toll booth attendant! Let me just say that the toll booth attendant was not verbally abusive to us, but he did share with us his feelings about the carload of “d_ _ _heads” in the car in front of us! Boston is a very colorful place, so to speak. After that, we made out way through the tunnel and headed to downtown. With it being Sunday, there were not a lot of shops open, which was fine since I was not in the mood to shop! We walked around the old cobblestone sidewalks and took in the beautiful scenery. There are some amazing buildings there and so much history. I wish we could have walked the freedom trail but there was just no time for that. What we did see was a memorial some what in the middle of the downtown area. There were these huge glass structures with nothing but numbers of those being memorialized. The side walk that led through the glass structures had a short little excerpt of some note worthy people. It was quite somber in there as people were walking through and reading. We ended up eating at a pub in the older part of downtown where the cobblestone was somewhat difficult to walk on for any period of time! I couldn’t help but laugh at some of the younger girls trying desperately to keep their composure in their sky high heels on the very uneven walkways. I did try my first oyster while we were there. I liked it okay, but it is not something I will go out of my way to have. So, I did experience a little of downtown Boston and thought it was a pretty cool place. Another one of our ventures came on Tuesday when we headed to Salem , MA , better known as Witch City where the witchcraft trials of 1692 took place. I stumbled on this place online since Donna put me in charge of entertainment for our last night there. No pressure. Any how, I picked Salem because of the fact that it was known as Witch City . I am simply fascinated with Vampires, Witches, etc. In fact, one of my favorite shows is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When I told Hunter where we were going, he told me to be sure and take my stake and cross. Then he proceeded to call me Buffy! So any how, we went to Salem and headed straight to the Witch Museum since it was closing in 30 minutes. There was a 20 minute presentation outlining the events that took place and what led up the witch trials. It was cool and very interesting to me! We buzzed through the gift shop quickly where I picked up a couple of items. There was so much I wish we could have seen and done had we gotten there earlier. It was just not in the cards for us since we were at the office until around 5:30. We did walk around and take in as much of the history as we could before we headed down to the water front to have dinner on Salem Harbor . We ate at a place called Victoria Station. It was okay. Not one of my favorite places compared to some of the other restaurants we experienced. During our few days there, we dined at places we knew we would not find in Texas . For example, The Naked Fish, Not Your Average Joes and some other places that I cannot think of right now. Let me just say, The Naked Fish was the best place I have been to in a very long time. Donna and I both agreed that it was our favorite place by far. Overall, my Boston experience was a good one. I tried to get some good pictures that would be worth posting without having to go into a long diatribe about each one. I hope I accomplished that a little.
