Lets go back briefly to last Saturday, the day of our party. First and foremost, I got to see a very good friend of mine who I have not seen in a really long time. Aly! She came over that afternoon to help get things situated for the party. She did not intend to stay because she honestly was not in the mood to be around a bunch of people. I understood even though I was disappointed. Turned out, she stayed for the party anyway and met some new, wonderful people. Overall the party was fun. I will add that I was a tad put off by the people that said they were coming and then did not bother to show, call, etc. It is just rude to RSVP knowing that the party throwers are buying enough food for all of those that RSVP'd and then to just don't show....rude. I understand that things happen, but a phone call is just common courtesy. Am I making too much of this? Probably. Any how, the crowd we had were a lot of fun so those that didn't show, your loss! I don't even really remember what we did on Sunday. Wait, yes I do. We met Mike for lunch and then went to go see Wanted with Angelina Jolie. Loved it. It had a couple of twists in that made that type of movie NOT predicable, like so many movies are these days. The next movie I want to see is Dark Knight. Not sure when that will happen. I would have loved to go this weekend but that was just not possible. So any way, last weekend was fun which led into a very busy week at work. I cannot believe how fast the week went. It was a blessing in more ways than one because we were without Aubry all week and that just made seeing her come faster! The 2nd blessing was that the new weekend was here before I knew it! Let me just back up to the week because it was spent running many errands, getting many things done that have been put off and put off for a long time now. One of those big items was getting Hunter out of that Nissan Altima that he had serious buyers remorse over. Lovely car, he just hated it. Hunter decided many months ago that this family really needed a truck. And he is right. There have already been many occasions that we have used LaBrett and Gene for their van to help us get big purchases home. Any how, to make a long story short, Hunter got his truck this week and is thrilled with it. (I hope you were sitting down mom when you read this...!)
Now we are to the weekend which started off nice with a trip to Hunter's parents house. We had hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, potato salad, guacamole, etc. It was very tasty and even better to be able to catch up with mom. It is just hard to get over there or have them come over here because the work schedules are so opposite. So, it was great to hang out over there for awhile. On the way home, I fell asleep which is pretty normal when Hunter is driving. If it is late enough and I am tired enough, a nap is sure to happen. Not to mention, I knew I was going to get up early to do my 50 minutes of cross training which usually is done on my bike.
Now here we are to Saturday where I did actually get out and ride, but it was not in the morning like I planned. It was more like noonish. It was hot but I can handle the heat when I am on my bike. Running in the heat is a different story though. I rode through the trails of Bear Creek park which is so awesome. I really did enjoy it and I loved seeing all of the families out on their bikes, or walking their dogs. Some were running in pairs. It was just nice to see that. I will say that on the bike in those trails is a challenge when there are many people out. I dodged a few dog leashes and a few wobbly bike riding kids! I think I will stick to the streets with my bike and take to running the trails instead. After my ride, I got cleaned up and we headed out to run some more errands. We have already put the truck to use. Made a trip to Home Depot to pick up wood for the table top that I have wanted (for a year now) in the laundry room. We built it, I sanded it and put the first coat of paint on it. Can't wait until it is ready to use. I know it may sound silly to some, but I am very happy to have a place to fold laundry now, instead of using the top of the washer and drier. Yippee!! After the table top got its first coat of paint, I went over to LaBrett's to return some items she brought over for the party last weekend. I stayed for a while and we just chatted about "stuff". That is what we do!
Here we are to today, Sunday. I got up and ran my 6 miles which was pretty tough to be honest. I was staggering at the end and my chest was a little tight which never happens. I finished and I did not fall over. That is a plus, right?! The rest of the day will be spent at the grocery store, picking up a couple of things for the next project, doing laundry, etc. You know, that really really fun stuff. (insert sarcasm here!)
Next up, posting my ride time and run time, then I am out of here!
