Running Update

Last weekend, if you read my blog, you know that I jacked my knee pretty good. I went to see a chiropractor that was recommended to me. I cannot begin to summarize everything he did so I will just make a long story short. I did some damage to my knee because stubborn me kept running on it for a month, even when it hurt. I did not tear anything though, thank goodness. The doc adjusted this, adjusted that, stretched this, stretched that, loosened this and loosened that. The biggest thing is that when he felt pressure points, it hurt, he made an adjustment and the pressure points no longer hurt. He said my hips were slightly out of whack so he put them back in whack and there was a whole bunch of other stuff that he did that I won't go into here. But the short of it is he said this may or may not fix it but it is a start. He wanted me to hold off on the running until this weekend and only do a short run. In this case, I was going to go for 5 miles. He wants me to call him on Monday to tell him how it went and he does want to see me again before the big event in 2 weeks which I may or may not be able to participate. If you had asked me on Thursday after my appointment, I would have said HECK YES, I am running the 1/2 with Shannon. But after my run this morning, I am not so sure now. I barely got out 2.5 miles before I had to stop. The pain was not as bad as it was last Sunday but I knew to stop before it got to that point. Am I disappointed? Yes, very. Will I go see this doc again? Yes, and soon. He did tell me that the first visit may or may not make things better. He needs to find the right fix for me. He did make me feel better that day but once I got out to run again, the pain came back. It did not come back full force, but I fear that if I had kept going that it would have just made it worse like it did last weekend. This is not over! I will find a way to keep doing this, because I enjoy it so much.
