Garmin's return
So, here I sit very happy that my Garmin is back and working like a charm. Too bad my knee is not working as good as the Garmin watch. This knee issue started about a month ago and I was able to push my way through the pain. But yesterday was a different story. I had a course all planned out but decided at the last minute to just get out and run since I had the Garmin to track my distance. I am trying really hard to keep off of sloped sidewalks and streets and severe inclines and decline since those are the main culprits of this knee pain (I think). As I was rounding the corner and coming out of Bear Creek Park, I was simply jaw dropped. The hill that was before me was huge. I decided to tackle it any way. As I reached the top of that one, there was another and another. I pressed through but the pain just got worse. I absolutely had to stop. I can endure pretty much anything when it comes to pain (at least I think so) but I was in tears. I could barely walk on it and I had to cave in and call Hunter to come pick me up. I was still too far away from home or else I would have just walked. I just could not do it. I am very disappointed and upset and feel terrible that I had to make that dreaded call. "Can you come pick me up because my dumb a@@ went too far out and I can barely walk on this knee of mine?" So any how, we get home, I shower and plant my butt on the chair with ice and elevation. I have done a lot of reading on this issue and I have learned that what I have is Runners Knee. There is a remedy. The remedy requires patience. Ha. Seriously, the remedy is get the knee healthy first by not running on it. When it is healthy, work on strength training to get the muscles around it stronger. Stretch real good so make sure the connective tissues and ligaments and all that internal junk is not shortening so that the knee cap moves properly. And last but not least, try to run on level sidewalks and roads....no slopes. So there you have it. What an exciting post!
