....you know, I have used that title before. Oh well. I guess this means that I often go 2 weeks between postings. But honestly, it makes for a boring post when the only thing I have been doing is working and taking care of the house and family.
On a non boring note, Hunter and I are celebrating 13 years of marriage on Monday, the 9th! Actually, we are going out this weekend on a real live date while Aubry hangs out with LaBrett and her kids. I am not entirely sure what we are doing but I do know that it will involve the motorcycle. I have my gear just sitting in the closet waiting to be worn. I have not been out on it since Hunter got it early last year, so this will be fun for me. I hope for him too. As for the rest of weekend, it will be spent cleaning out closets and bagging up the clothes for the charity to come pick up on Monday. It is a pretty cool deal. There is a local charity that once a month comes to the neighborhood and picks up clothes, household items, etc. You don't have to be at home. You just put your stuff out at the end of your driveway with the postcard attached, they come by and get it and leave a donation slip to use for tax purposes. I would much rather donate than mess with a garage sale. I know that these items will go to deserving families and it helps Aubry to understand the importance of charities. Nice lesson to be learned there!
As for the Wii Fit...I did promise to come back and give it a fair assessment after using it for a couple of weeks. I have been very diligent with using it every other day (between my weight lifting days) and I am happy to report that the Wii Fit no longer says I am slightly overweight! I don't attribute all weight loss to the Wii Fit because I have been running and working out and eating better. What I attribute the Wii Fit to is keeping me motivated to get a workout routine back into my daily routine. But that is not all the Wii Fit is good for. I think it is great fun. It has certainly helped me become more conscience of how I stand, sit, etc because it does measure balance and my normal standing is way off. 46 on side and 54 on the other. No wonder my knee hurts after running! I am putting more weight on one leg and didn't even realize it. As for the pros and cons, here goes:
1) Pro: decent variety of activities in all areas which are balance, yoga, strength and cardio. Con: You cannot stream together activities to create a personal workout that moves seamlessly from one activity to the next. You are required to go back to the menu each time to select your next activity.
2) Pro: weighs you, assesses your stance and provides you with a pretty accurate weight and distribution of your weight. (which measures it to the 10th of a percent!) It also provides your BMI based on the height you entered and the weight it registers. Con: The BMI is only taking height and weight into consideration. It has no idea how much of that weight is muscle. The ONLY way for a full proof accurate measurement of your BMI is at your doctors office with calipers and what not!
3) Pro: You can pick a male or female "trainer" to encourage you along with the way with praise. Con: your trainer will criticize you if you completely suck at something, but their tone is pleasant!
4) Pro: After each activity, it ranks your performance with the other profiles that are set up in the game (i.e. kids, spouse, friends). It is good and fun competition to see who can get the high score. Con: there really is no con unless you rub it in your kids face that you got a higher score than they did on the ski jump...which I did not do by the way!
5) Pro: Challenges your coordination with a 4-6 minute boxing drill with somewhat complicated foot (stepping) and hand (punching) combinations. Con: no con, this is simply a fun way to sweat and get in some cardio.
I could go into great detail about the specific activities but I think I will save that for another post. Don't want to blow my wad in one day!
