Unfare Wii Fit assessment

Let me start off by saying that we did not buy the Wii Fit as a replacement for lifting weights, running, biking, etc. This was simply to add to our workout gear and provide a broader selection of options for staying healthy. Besides, we have an 11 year old and we thought it would be a fun and unique way for her have fun, stay active and be healthy. My first thought was that is going to be gimmicky but I really didn’t care. After reading many reviews and seeing videos of what activities were available, it just looked like fun to have and fun to use.

My first experience with the Wii Fit went something like this:
1) Step on the board and have the Wii Fit do an assessment of sorts. Height, weight, balance, age etc. all were factored in when assessing my “Fit Age” and BMI.
2) Step off the board and shake my head in disbelief that the Wii Fit says I am slightly over weight! I mean, really?! I work out, I run, I eat pretty good. I have a few pounds that I would like to lose but to have a game tell me I am slightly over weight really sucked!
3) Step back on the board and proceed to go through a handful of activities to get an idea of what I am up against. I did a few yoga poses, stepped off the board and hit the Barbosa Gym for a full on leg workout.
4) The next day I looked at the balance board sitting on the floor next to the TV, just mocking me. I put on my running shoes and went for a nice brisk run.

In all fairness, I have NOT even come close to giving the Wii Fit the time it deserves. I have seen Aubry play on it and she has a blast. I have seen her friends play on it and they have a blast. I will incorporate the Wii Fit into my daily routine some how and will give it as fare an assessment as I can. Besides, I entered a 2 week goal into my profile on the Wii Fit. I have something to prove now, dang it. Not to mention, I was told by someone that he was sore for days after using the Wii Fit and he lifts 4 days a week. I gotta find out what he was doing to get so sore.

Check back in a couple weeks. Maybe by then I will have changed my tune!
