Room full of teenage girls....except mine!
Aubry has made pretty good friends with LaBrett's youngest daughter who turned 13 yesterday. Aubry was invited to her birthday party which consisted of several girls that were already 13. Aubry is 11. She will forever be the youngest in her class seeing that her birthday is not until the end of May. The fact that she was a grade younger and a year and a half younger than most of the girls at this party did not phase her a bit. In fact, the whole time I was there I did not once hear any mention of age or grade. Not to say it did not come, but if it did...it did not appear to be an issue. Aubry just sort of fell right in with the group. She is like a chameleon, just sort of blends in with the group and goes with the flow. Any how, Aubry and I get to LaBrett's house on time and we wait another hour for the rest of the girls to show up. The plan was to take them to the movies first. So we all piled into the huge van which is affectionately called "The Big Black Beast". Everyone fit and that is what matters! We drop the girls off at the theater and LaBrett and I took that opportunity to walk around the South Lake Town Square, which I love. That place is very nice for shopping, eating and people watching. We get coffee at the Barnes and Noble first and then head out to start walking. Oh wait, while in Barnes and Noble, I spotted this coffee table book that chronicles Prince's career and it stopped me dead in my tracks! I flipped through the unwrapped one and knew I had to have it. LaBrett picked up a plastic wrapped copy and headed to the register. Here I thought she was just picking it up to carry it for me. She ended up buying it as a late birthday gift. Whoo Hoo! It was a nice surprise that she did that. Thank you LaBrett. After our trip in the book store we hit up a couple more shops until the movie was out. We got back to the house and wrote up a scavenger hunt list for the girls. They took off around the neighborhood while we stayed back to play. Turns out there were 2 other groups doing the exact same thing. I love that our neighbors have no issue with this type of thing. Especially considering this neighborhood is FULL of kids and this is bound to happen again. So while the girls were out hunting, we were in the house playing Rock Band. Of course! I completely brutalized Tom Sawyer on the drums. It was AWFUL! I lost my rhythm and was never able to get it back. Oh well, I will always have my guitar skills. Wait, those sort of suck too! After our stint with Rock Band, the girls came back in and we did the whole cake and gift thing. They were pretty tired and just sort of fell into the couches in the living room. I hung out with LaBrett for a while until Gene got home from my house where he was chilling with Hunter. It was a fun day. Now I am going to look at my coffee table book some more!
