It has been several days since I got back from DC and work has just kicked my @$$ in the last 4 days that I worked (short week with Memorial Day). Don't get me wrong, I love what I do and am thankful to have a job. I love the path that I am going in right now with the new projects. It is giving me exposure to a lot of new things and that is just what I was looking for! Any how, I really could have used another work day this week but that didn't happen and here we are to the weekend where I get to party with my kiddo. Her b-day was on Tuesday in which we had a nice dinner at home, complete with cake and gifts for Aubry. We gave her guitar lessons along with her own guitar and case. She has been asking for lessons for a while now and we thought what a perfect time to give them to her. The intent was for her to use my guitar but after thinking about it, I realized that my guitar is slightly too big for her and it has steel strings. I found her a nice guitar with case and nylon strings. She was so thrilled. I mentioned to her that I would like to take lessons with her. She is fine with that so I think I am going to do it. The next day, Aubry's nana, papa and Aunt Megan came over to celebrate her b-day. We had dinner, cake and ice cream and gifts for the b-day girl. (hmmmm, lather, rinse, repeat from the day before!). It was a school night so they didn't stay too long. It was great to hang out with them though, even if it was a short visit.
So, my original intent of this post was to talk about the 2nd Day in DC. Actually, the 2nd part of the 2nd day in DC. That evening, after the ceremony, was the reception that was held in the bar of the hotel where we stayed. It was a pretty cool place with a loft for the private party. We arrived around 7:00 with most guests arriving at a fashionably late 7:30. There was food, drinks, a lot of socializing and dancing. I didn't know any one of Marc and Laura's friends but that didn't really matter to me. It was so nice to see such a lovely turn out for Marc in celebration of his retirement. I am not going to go into detail about all the events of this night. It was a big party with eating, drinking, dancing. I think that is enough!
The next two days were filled with the sites of the DC. Awesome.
