Rock Climbing Party...

...complete with no pictures, yet. I remembered the food, cake, ice, cups, plates, napkins, silver ware, serving ware, drinks, b-day banner, kids who were riding with me...but left the camera at home. I am ever so thankful for LaBrett. Her camera is like American Express. She never leaves home without it. She was the photographer for the day. Thank you LaBrett! I will have pics to post soon, just as soon as I can retrieve them from her.

The party was a great success. There were about 8 kids, I think. Half of them were hesitant to climb, the other half were about to come apart at the seams. They were really excited to climb. The 1st few minutes were spend with getting instructions from the party coordinator. The next hour, the kids climbed and repelled and climbed some more. Once they found a wall or two with a decent climbing path, they were all over it. The most rewarding part was ringing the bell once you got to top. The bells are loud so it caused a lot of people to look up to see who was at the top. That was pretty cool for the kids. The next hour was spent eating, opening gifts and having cake. Once that was over it was back to rock climbing. I am pretty sure this was Aubry's favorite party so far. It is something that most kids can do and are willing to try. Not to mention, it is different and something that Aubry can invite boys to. Most of the boys that she invited wanted very badly to come but could not because of other things they had going. There was one boy who was there but I really don't think he cared too much! He was rock climbing after all! One thing I did notice is how a group of pre-teen/teenage girls act around a cute boy. And no, it was not the Aubry's friend that I am referring to. I am referring to the party guide/coordinator/whatever you call him. He was a cute kid and some of the girls were shamelessly flirting with him. I was thinking, good Lord, he is at least 7 years older than you. There was one in particular that was especially annoying. But the funniest part is that the Guide would send her to walls on the other side of the room and ask her to find the rocks that were shaped like turtles and to count how many there were. This would keep her occupied for a while so he could focus on doing his job. She would come back and tell him how many there were. So he would ask her to go find the rocks shaped like elephant heads. I was thinking to myself, that is pretty smart! That part of the party was amusing to watch. I am just thankful that Aubry was more into the climbing that she was into the flirting! I know, that time will come. For now, I will relish in the fact that she is not all swooning over boys!

The party continued on at our house where 5 of the 8 came back to play some Rock Band and shoot some pool and do whatever else they wanted. The only boy that was at Aubry's party did not stay at our house for too long. He did feel some what uncomfortable being the only boy. At The Summit it was not a big deal because there were tons of people there. The house was a little different because of closer quarters! After he left, the girls just did their own thing. At that age, I don't have to "plan" anything. I know from the amount of laughter and screaming that they had a great time!

A successful weekend indeed!
