I need to vent.

My frustration for stupid drivers has reached an all time high. The last month or so has put me edge while driving. I try to drive defensively to begin with to avoid mishaps that can occur from time to time. But my time to time has turned into every other day, if not every day. I have been tailgated, nearly side swiped, honked at for making a right hand turn (apparently not fast enough), been cut off, pulled out in front of, etc. The list is just growing. Due to these back to back to back incidents, I have re-evaluated my driving habits and I honestly do not think it is me. I know, I know, it is never us. It is always them. But seriously, I don’t zip in and out of traffic, I don’t cut off people, I don’t tailgate, I don’t drive slow to give people a reason to tailgate or honk. I don’t drive under the speed limit in the fast lane. I drive relatively defensively and am very aware of the things that go on around me. If I didn’t drive defensively, there is no telling just how many times I would have been hit in just the last month alone. As a result of these stupid drivers, I did get rear ended recently and picked up my car from the shop just a week ago. And I will be dammed if it didn’t almost happen again last night while driving home from tennis practice. I was making my left hand turn from the middle lane, as I usually do when traveling this particular road. The middle lane allows you to turn left or go straight while the left lane only allows you to turn left. So any way, I was in the middle of making my turn when I saw this red car coming right at my driver’s side door. I floored it and laid on my horn to get out of the way of this lady that decided the TURN ONLY lane was going to become her personal go straight lane. Never mind that the lane to her right allows the drivers to turn left or go straight. I got out of that one unscathed but hacked off. While crossing the bridge, I looked back towards the access road and she was completely unaware of what just happened. It was like there was never even a car in her direct path to begin with. This lady dam near broad sided me and thought nothing of it. I was so close to pulling my car over to the side of the road, toss my keys and walk home. I was that frustrated. I know…this happens all the time. It just seems to be happening so frequently to me this past month. Does the color silver translate to transparent? Seriously? Are people in that much of a hurry that they are completely unaware that they are NOT the only person on the road?

One more gripe about drivers, riders in this case, and I am done. Motorcycle + Lane Splitting = IDIOT. To the kid that had on his helmet, shorts, t-shirt and flip flops…you are an idiot. Not only will your shorts and t-shirt NOT save your limbs when you dump your bike, but your lane splitting is not cool. It only makes you look like an idiot.

Thank goodness that you were paying attention! I have noticed when I am down in TX (Dallas & San Antonio) that the drivers just don't pay attention or don't care to pay attention. Esp if they have big trucks or SUVs! Sad thing is that my mother-in-law is one of those bad drivers and I am surprised that she hasn't gotten into a major accident yet! Be careful!
