Post Mom's Day

The weekend brought about many things. Friday evening was spent at Home Depot (finally) purchasing a charcoal grill, flowers and mulch. LaBrett and Gene were kind enough to help me get the thing home. I bought a huge grill to accommodate many steaks, hamburgers, hotdogs etc. for the masses! Hunter and I have been without a grill for a long time and I am thrilled to finally have one back again.

Saturday started bright and early at 8:00. I got up to run and test out my Garmin Forerunner (which is so dang awesome). When I got home, Hunter was in the middle of assembling the grill. I helped him out until it was time for him to go meet his riding buddies so they could take another long country road trip on their bikes. After he left, I spent the next 3 hours working on the flower bed. I ran out of mulch so that was my clue to stop working and get cleaned up. I grabbed Aubry and took her out with me to the Home Depot for more mulch. We also went to the grocery store to pick the rest of what we needed for dinner with Hunter’s mom and dad. We had a post mom’s day celebration at our house in which I got to test out the new grill. We had barbq chicken and sausage, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, salad, rolls, etc. It was so good. I have not eaten like that in a long time. I have been really good about staying away from certain foods that make me feel sluggish. But this particular night, I just didn’t care. After dinner, we sat around the table and chatted for a long time. We have not been able to keep caught up with each other because our schedules are so off that it makes it difficult. We got caught up that night, for sure! In between conversations, I had to work on “work” stuff. Deadlines are looming in the back ground and I really had no choice but to log in this weekend. It was okay I guess. I was not handcuffed to the lap top. I was able to check it from time and make sure things were going just fine. Mary Jo and Mark stayed until around 11:30. That was when every one started to get sleepy. Hunter retired to the media room while I plopped my tired butt on the couch to catch up on some shows that I had DVR’d.

Sunday brought another day of running. Only this time, I went to Bear Creek Park to run the trails there. I have wanted to do that for a long time now but had no real way to track the distance. The Garmin let me see how far I had gone and how much further I needed to go to reach my goal for that day. The read out is in km’s so I had to configure the km distance to miles. I thought I had it right, but I shorted myself .11 km’s to reach the next full mile. Any how, now I know and I love this watch and cannot wait to get out and do it again and beat my time from Sunday! Whoo hoo. Nothing like challenging yourself against….well, yourself! So, after I ran I got home and put down the rest of the mulch that I picked Saturday afternoon. I picked up a couple of more flowers too to fill some holes. Once that was done, I was pretty worn out already. But the day was still young so we left to go get a late lunch and then went to see a movie. We saw the Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian. It was pretty good. The affects were awesome, the story line was good but the execution in some parts was just so so. I liked the first one better but also liked this one well enough that it will be added to our collection. After the movie, we went home. I think we finally rolled up to the house around 7:30. It was still very nice outside so Aubry and I decided to go for a walk. I figured I would kill 2 birds with one stone and return a sweatshirt of LaBrett’s that I have had for a while now. The night finally ended with me finishing up the laundry that I had been working all weekend. Isn’t that fun!
