Tennis Lessons
Aubry started her tennis lessons this evening. She has been more than ready to get back into it and I was thrilled when I stumbled on the same organization that we went through a couple of years when I coached and she played. We pulled up to the courts about 5 minutes early and they were completely deserted. I was thinking, wow this is not good. I guess I expected a couple of cars to have already been there. But we did not wait long before Sarah, the instructor pulled up. While I was helping her get things set up for the lessons, I got the whole run down of her history with tennis. 12 years coaching professionally. Very cool! There was a lot more, but her time with the USTA was what really mattered to me. So, they started off the lessons with a basic warm up and some quizing about grip positions. I took this opportunity to get a quick run in on the track that was just down the hill from the courts. And maaaaaan, was it hot. I mean, hot! 92 degrees. I sweated a lot and ran a whopping mile. Whoo Hoo, and I say with very little enthusiasm. The heat is almost unbearable. But I will say this, I did want to watch and see how the lessons were conducted and wanted to see how Aubry was after so many months away from the court. Any how, I got a mile in and I did wear my Garmin like a good little girl. Check out this link. Marcy's One Mile. The Garmin syncs to my computer via a thumb drive type device. I get to see my results in this nice little display. It is the coolest thing ever and makes me want to get out and run more just to beat my last mile time...or increase the distance (which I am working on!). Okay, so back to the tennis lessons. Aubry really did great. Her serve is much improved as is her back hand. When she takes her time and gets set, her ground strokes are great. It is when she gets set at the last minute that she decides to hit a home run! All joking aside, she did great and is ready to go back and do it again. For now, we are going once a week. I am sure she will want to increase that to two times a week, but for now, one day is good. Here are a few shots from the day.
