This first week of school was a tad bit rough, gotta admit. It is not to say that Aubry does not like school. That is not the case at all. She loves school, enjoys her teachers and has made a few new friends this week. The rough part was just back into the routine of things. She is very good about getting herself up and going on her own. Twice this week, I had to go up stairs and get her butt out of bed! On those days, it was a scramble to get out the door in time for the bus. Now mind you, Hunter can take her to school should the need ever arise, but she likes to ride the bus with her very good friend. The other two days were fine. She got up and out the door in time. But, Friday was a just a mess for everyone. I woke up at 6:49! I normally leave the house at 6:50. Hmmmm, can I really get ready in one minute? Not a chance. The first thing I did when I jumped out of bed was race upstairs to see if Aubry had slept through her alarm for a 3rd day. She did not. She was dressed and just laying on her bed playing on her DS. I shoved her out the door because 6:50 is when she leaves the house. I proceed to throw on some clothes (thank goodness for casual fridays!), deoderant, brush my teeth, pull my hair back and I am out the door. Not before grabbing my purse, laptop and makeup bag though! I was only 6 minutes late. I am good! I put my makeup on while my laptop was booting up so all is well with the world. Except for the fact that my first cup of coffee was work coffee and not the good stuff I make at home! Let me just say that this was the typical ending to the he_ _ week at work. I ended working at home almost every night this week to get some much needed things done. And it is still not over. I will be logging in sometime this weekend to wrap one little thing up. The night ended good though. Hunter took Aubry and I out for dinner and we met some friends at the Harkins Theater to see a movie. My jaw dropped when we pulled around the corner to be in full few of the theater. It was absolutely packed with teenagers. There was an invasion...and I was just imagining Aubry being among that crowd one day. She has a couple of years yet, but that time will be here before you know it. All I could hear when we were walking through was, "like, oh my gawd", "oh my gawwwwd, are you serious", "like, did you see what she was wearing", "he is totally, like hawt, oh my gawd". I think I lost a few brain cells that night. Even my 11 year old was mocking the high pitches and the over use of like and oh my gawd. I looked at her and reminded myself that she will be there one day. I just hope that she is not going to use the crutch words. Sigh.
Oh, before we left for dinner, the UPS man showed up. I met him in the driveway because I knew exactly what he had. The triumphant return of the Garmin watch! I raced back inside, tore open the box and saw the lovely Garmin watch face staring back at me. Turns out that Garmin replaced my watch. They sent me a brand new one. I know I said I felt liberated without it, but I cannot wait to put it back on and start using it again. Especially for the long runs (not so much for the shorter 5 milers.) After we got home last night, I downloaded the software and got the watch all situated for Sundays run. I did a quick little test to make data was being received and transferred. So far, so good! Okay, I am out of here to do Saturday stuff now.
