First off, I am already behind a day on my attempt to post daily in the month of December. Last night, I got home from work and decided to watch a movie and stay off the computer for the night.
Here it is. My post for today is a call for help regarding my next endeavor. I suppose to understand why I chose this, a little history may be necessary. A couple of years ago I decided to take up running. It started with the bright idea of training for a half marathon. Shannon was the culprit and we figured we could virtually (she lived in Kansas at the time) train together. A few months go by, I travel to Kansas and run the half marathon with her. It was not without incident due to a knee injury I suffered while training. But I completed the half marathon and that just spawned a new passion for me. I have since run several 5K's. But much as I enjoy running, I felt like I needed something in addition to that. Next up, bike racing. The only problem was all I had was a heavy mountain bike. Not exactly condusive for racing. I thought I would try my hand at it anyway and signed up for a bike race through a corporate challenge event with the company I work for. I had so much fun but I also knew that if I wanted to continue doing this, I would need a better bike for racing. After a few weeks of research, I ended up buying a Canondale road bike, which I absolutely love. So after a year of 5K's and bike races, I figured out what my next endeavor needs to be. I plan to tackle a duathlon in the spring. I know there are many in the area but my search on training for such an event has come up with nothing. The mini duathlon is where I want to start, which is run 2, bike 9, run 2. All of the training programs are for the big daddy duathlon and I don't think I am ready for that just yet. I am putting it out there for anyone that has some suggestions, training programs, etc. I need help and what I am coming up with is not what I am looking for. I realize this is probably something I could figure out but I want a proper training program. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
